Indigenous Youth Stand Together in Solidarity for Wet'suwet'en

Wishtoyo is honored to work with these amazing Indigenous youth from many Nations. They stand together in solidarity with their fellow Indigenous youth land protectors in Canada in support of Wet'suwet'en. We stand with them.

We have had the distinct blessing of engaging with the majority of these youth throughout the years. Most recently, we hosted a delegation of aboriginal youth from Australia who shared with us about the tremendous loss brought by the catastrophic wildfires that have ravaged their sacred sites, devastated their flora and fauna, destroyed their homes, and displaced their peoples. The impacts of global climate change are happening right now. Our young people see the connections between fossil fuel infrastructure in Canada and mass destruction from wildfire in Australia. These Indigenous youth are standing together on the frontlines advocating for their collective futures. They make all the ancestors proud!

In this letter, these youth have come together from all around the globe -- Canada, the United States, Mexico, El Salvador, the Philippines, and Australia -- to stand with each other and their First Nations relatives in Canada. The Native Nations they represent include: Carry the Kettle, Lummi, Snohomish, Seneca, Choctaw, Ohlone, Miwok, Wukchumni, Chumash, Tongva, Cahuilla, Kumeyaay, Shoshone, Navajo, Tohono O'odham, Akimel O'odham, Chiricahua Apache, Mescalero Apache, Lipan Apache, Yoeme/Yaqui, Yoreme/Mayo, Cucapá, Cochimi, Rarámuri, Chichimeca, Nahua, P'urhépecha, Ñuu Savi, Zapotec, Mexica, Mixteca, Lenca, Kalinga, Kapampangan, Umplia Clan far north QLD Lockheart River, Zenadh Kes, Wagadagam, Kuku Yalanji, Kulkalgal, and Kawrareg.
